Christmas Shopping Failure

I usually love to christmas shop, but it seems like this year I just have absolutly no idea what to get anyone! I just end up shopping for myself....For instance yesterday I bought this cardi from the gap.

I swear I'm not an old lady. I just have a passion for cardigans.
Oh did I mention it was -20 out. Yeah real nice. I got a brainf freeze walking to work this morning. You know when it is so cold that your nostrils freeze and your lungs hurt and you just want to scream? Well it's colder. I am going to have to invest in some thermal wear to get me through the winter.
I'm longing for those summer nights where you just relax outside with a cold beer and some friends. Ohhh man, only 6 more months......

Ughhhhh, yesterday was the first major snow storm in Montreal. Je ne suis pas contente!! I am definitly not a snow lover. Througout the day we had close to 30 cm fall. It was nuts. Everyone at work was telling me how lucky I was that I took the metro and that I didn't have to drive on the icy roads. Well little did they or I know that the metro would have some problems and I would be stranded outside in the storm for over an hour. GREAT.
And brilliant me, I don't have any legitimate winter boots (I do this every year) but this year, (tonight actually) I will be buying winter boots. I do not care how ugly they are, I am sick of having wet and cold feet.

This picture was in the newspaper this morning. How SAD is this...

I have decided that I will definitly be moving to Italy sometime in my life haha. Just so I can swim in this pool.

Perched 1,000 feet above the famed Amalfi Coast, the infinity pool at the Hotel Caruso in Italy creates a horizon that seems to go on forever. Hailed by French poet André Gide as "between the sky and the sea," the pool (and view) has been enjoyed by Former first lady Jackie Onassis and Hollywood legend Greta Garbo (among others).

I Climbed the Tree To See the World

You know the feeling when you hear a song and it's perfect? I've had this song on repeat for days now and everytime it finishes I wish it was longer. Oh yeah, the video is beautiful also.
The song is by cinematic orchestra with vocals by Patrick Watson a fellow Montrealer.

By the cracks of the skin I climbed to the top
I climbed the tree to see the world
When the gusts came around to blow me down
I held on as tightly as you held onto me
I held on as tightly as you held onto me

Lovely

I just want to take a quick second to show you how beautiful this necklace is. I am usually a fan of big statement pieces, but when I saw this picture I actually gasped. Sooooooo nice!

Baby it's cold outside!

Oh baby is it ever cold! I'm not ready for it yet, I really wouldn't mind a green christmas! On the bright side I will be heading to fredericton for christmas for a few days. I'm really happy that I will be spending the holidays with my friends and family.

I can't believe it is already december 2nd, I really need to start my christmas shopping. I think I will mostly be doing some DIY projects, I won't say what they are incase the recipients of these gifts happen to come across this post.

I do have my very own wish list though! In case anyone was wondering.

I've been looking for the perfect brown leather messenger bag

I found this bag on Etsy from The Leather Store http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35654224&ref=cat2_gallery_9

Whatcha Say?!

I am baaaack from a nice vacation with my mommy in Rockwood Ontario. The home of Camp rock 2!! Thats right, I walked on the same ground as the Jonas Brothers.

Anyways I had an awesome week. My sister Melanie and I went to Canadas Wonderland, the place was empty NO LINESS!! Smooth sailing the whole way through. We are roller coaster junkies so we were in our element.

My beautiful sister Melanie.

On saturday, me, my mom, her boyfriend and our lovely puppy Lola went to Larrys cottage in Muskoka. It was beautiful!! The weather was great, we even went out on the boat and rowed around a bit!

Super happy!

LOLAAA!

Well I am now back in the city! I'm sad but happy at the same time, glad to get back into a routine. Right now I am cooking some chili, my favorite meal ever. It smells delicious.

Voila, my fav song right now, there is nothing like a little bit of Imogen heap and a sweet hip hop beat.....

All the trees in the field will clap their hands.

Today is just one of those days when I want to curl up on the couch with a book (in this case The Passion of the Western Mind, my religious studies textbook) and a cup of tea (or in this case 3 cups)

As I was eating supper I watched a bit of the movie Penelope on TV in french. It is a great movie, there is something about the modern fairy tale, the warm fall colors, beautiful set, and not to mention James McAvoy.

I've been spending most of my days at the library trying to get as much work done as humanly possible, I am so behind, I have no idea how it happened.

Also I have come up with (what I think) is my best halloween costume yet! Here is my inspiration:

It is from a vogue photoshoot in 2005.

Now all I need to do is find a party to go to.

The days are growing colder

Fall is definitly here. As much as I love fall, beautiful colors, crisp air, fresh apples. It means that winter is closer and I am never ready to accept that.
Ugh school is a pain in the bum ( my mid-terms are coming up soon) and I still don't have a job. But things are still going pretty well. I'm hoping to head to Guelph ontario for thanksgiving to visit my mom.

The other day I took a nice walk, it was a beautiful day and I had been in this area at night but never during the day.

Cute little ice cream/fruits and veggie place

My delicious fieldberry and coconut ice cream! Yummm

It has been rainy and cold for the past couple of days so I made some chilli!

HAPPY FALL!!

Home.

I was out for a run one morning when I found the best thing I could ever find in my whole life.
Now I know that my letter to hogwarts got lost in the mail. The Hogwarts express came to me.

Also, I am slowly working on decorating my room. I still need a dresser to put my stuff on, I have lots of junk on the floor right now.
Anyways I got some pictures printed and now they are on my wall. There will be more eventually.

Right now I am on the hunt for a job, I've had a few interviews and I'm still waiting for results.
I am loving montreal, even though this is proving to be a bit more difficult then I imagined I still feel extremely blessed. I know that a job will work out, and hopefully school won't be so bad. This semester I will be a full time student and working full time, it's going to be tough, but I am up for the challenge.

2 weeks in

I'm slowly getting settled in, right now main thing is getting a job. I had one job interview already, I didn't get it which is totally OK because the job actually scared the crap out of me. I have another on wednesday and I am really excited for it and really really want this job, it is actually perfect. Wish me luck!

Here is a few photos that I've taken. I'm sorry I am so terrible at just pulling out my camera and snapping some shots, slowly getting better though.

This is a Crock store, kind of blew my mind, looking in the window, they were selling HIGH HEELS!!! What!?! Shocking really, they were probably the ugliest things ever. Please people keep them for in the house.

This is how I spent an evening, since I am kind of lacking some friends at the moment. Reading fight club and drinking coffee out of a pink cup.

This is the inside my fridge. I have no idea what that crap is and it was a lot worse in person, the picture does not do it justice. It had the texture and thickness of a fruit to go and smelled sooo ronchy. It took me about an hour or so to scrape it all off.

Until next time

A picture a day for a year

I have finally arrived in Montreal!
I've been planning this move for years now and it's finally happened. I am so excited to be here right now, except for the rotten egg smell in my fridge.

So I have decided that every day for the next year I will do a blog post. Hopefully.
And I will also post pictures, it may be one, or many like today there is more than one obvy

So I am getting settled into my new place, I'll take pictures once my room is finised being put together, right now it is just kind of a big mess, slowly getting better. Although I did put away all my clothes.

So I have two pretty cool neighbours here is one of them

And the other neighbour is the Botanical gardens, I took a little stroll there this evening here are a few pics. (I appologize for the quality, my camera is not the best)

I have lots to do tomorrow, unpacking, job hunting, grocery doing, exploring.
Busy busy.

Oh and this is the picture of the day

Hello Summer, Goodbye Harddrive

I'm about a month into summer vacation and so far so good. There are two downfalls: 1) I have yet to find a job
2)My house/bedroom is infested by mosquitoes.
I have so many mosquitoe bites, thirteen on ONE foot to be exact.

I would love to post some pictures but my oh so lovely mother dropped my computer and smashed the harddrive a few weeks back and I have yet to go on a picture hunt on facebook to resave them all onto my computer.

At the end of the summer I am planning on getting an appartment, I'm not sure yet if it is going to be in Fredericton (probably not) or my dreeeaaam would be to move to Montreal (fingers crossed). Which is where my lovely sister Sasha just moved and I miss her beaucoup.

I really really want to post more, lots more, so that is my summer resolution, to have more posts and more photos!

xoxo

Life goes on

Life has been progressing wonderfully! weeeeeeeeeeee!
School is over in a month, and I will be home in a month to the day! I'm excited and sad all at the same time. I'm so excited for the summer and to be with my fam and friends again, but I am really sad to be leaving this place, I love my house and my friends that i have made here <3>
So I went to a masquerade ball on friday...I know my life is so glam. It was a time ( all you non newfies, " a time" is pretty much "a good time" without the good). Voila, photos!

I like to sew?

My poor mp3 player is pretty scratched up, I don't really want it to get worse, so I figured I could use my left over material from the lap top cover and make my mp3 a cover.
I've been studying like mad, and this was a nice little break and a could way to practice my sewing (which is actually pretty terrible). It worked out though, because the felt is black and so is the thread so really you can't see my many mistakes.
It was prety simple I just took some felt, cut it twice the length on the mp3 an a little wider for some extra room for sewing, sewed up the sides and added the ribbon to i could tie the earphones, and then added a bit of velcro on the inside to shut the top.

Voila!!

My attempts at being creative

There is a heater in my dorm room that likes to make a loud buzzing sound at night. It drives me crazy. The other night as I was trying to fall asleep the buzzing just wouldn't stop, so I reached over on my desk and grabbed the first thing I could and threw it at my heater ( throwing things at it makes the buzzing stop for a few minutes). I ended up breaking the bottle of hand cream that I threw. The next morning I decided that make something that would solve the buzzing problem.

That is my heater.

So for this creation I was looking for something I could throw but I didn't want it to break and preferably not make very much noise when it hit the heater. So this is how the "Toilet Paper Yoyo" came to life. I took a role of toilet paper tied a ribon through it (so I could reel i t back in when I threw it)...pure genius

This creative vision led me on another path, I wanted a cover for my lap top, so I made one.
I took a trip to Michaels, I have never been there, but I loved it all!! Except for the tacky plastic flowers that are everywhere. So it was pretty simple, all I needed was some felt and velcro, I bought some ribbon for decoration. It's not beautiful but I am proud of it, and it does the job!!
This is what it looks like on the outside when my lappy is all cozy inside.

And this is it when it is open, you just fold the flaps over and velcro them shut! Perfecto!

Back to School!

So it's been two months since I posted last, but I am determined to not give up on this blog. So here goes another one.

Christmas break is over. It was almost perfect. Being able to go home and see my friends and family is exactly what I needed. Yesterday I was sad to be leaving home, but when I got back and settled in to my cozy little dorm room, I must say that I am glad to be back. The break was so busy that now I am just trying to relax before classes start tomorrow, I kind of locked myself in my room and have been listening to "I'll be your lover too" by Robert Pattinson repeat for hours.

I really don't have much to say!
